Did You Hear? Gucci And Dapper Dan Are Collaborating

Alessandro Michele and Dapper Dan have partnered up for the first time

After a long time battle between Dapper Dan and Gucci, that could've ended in lawsuits, instead has created the first ever collaboration between the two. Throughout the 80's and 90's Dapper Dan was known for "knocking off" the Gucci logo in his own designs. However Gucci went back by "knocking off" one of Dapper Dan's designs on the 2017 runway. A battle that has lasted has now ended in reconcile with the two coming together for a collaboration which will hit select stores today.

The peace between the two began with Gucci flying out Dan to Italy where Gucci helped Dan reopen his Harlem atelier and put him in a Gucci tailoring ad campaign according to Fashionista. Today the collaborative collection with be released online and in select international Gucci flagships. 

"Taking inspiration from archive imagery from the '80s showing Dapper Dan's custom pieces, the gallery of pictures shot in and around the streets of Harlem New York have a similar street aesthetic to the original photographs," the brand shared with Fashionista, "Featuring young personalities from the neighborhood together with models wearing the ready-to-wear and accessories of the Gucci-Dapper Dan collection, the look book pays homage to the celebrated designer's heritage."
